Coming (back) to the UK

by In Reach Of The Skies August. 26, 2021 145 views

It was announced last month that Hawker Hurricane XII V6748 has been sold and will be coming to the UK from its current home in Australia. The aircraft was built in Canada in WWII and served in Operational Training Units being struck off charge in 1944 before spending some time stored in a field. Some restoration was was then undertaken in Canada in the 1980's before it came to the UK where restoration was completed and it flew again in 1991. The aircraft then had a couple of owners in America before being put up for sale in 2014 after which it ended up in Scone, Australia. Sadly for Australia this is currently the only airworthy Hurricane they have.

So, hopefully I get to see it in our skies in the future but, in the meantime, this is an excuse to put up a couple of pictures I took in Australia at the 2018 Warbirds Down Under air show.
