Birthday surf

A late entry - but for Archie's birthday we arranged a surf lesson for all the boys. Joe did particularly well, especially as he was initially terrified - stood up on his first wave and had a ride into the beach. Louis bossed the surf instructor around and had fun fighting the waves.

The two younger boys are on individual softboards, Archie's board is much longer. This allows the surf instructor to jump up and pull him up to standing (although he tends to then twist and face backwards). Harry (the coach) makes it look very easy but even getting Archie positioned correctly on the board can be a challenge. I took him out on our little board last week and kept knocking him off. As usual he spent the session beaming and was very relaxed afterwards. Not long to go now until the 2011 Breaking the Barrier [] event at Bigbury.

Great day - we were all pretty stoked.

A bunch of friends clubbed together and bought me a little point and shoot waterproof camera at the end of last year. I've been using it a lot during our winter surfing sessions (yep I've had to learn along with the husband - think it's the best decision we've made in a long time - lots of fun, even in a freezing English winter sea).

These are wonderful....for the colors, the fun, the sparkling water. One can feel the fear, the development of skill & confidence. I love these!
