Fantastic Summer

The words fantastic and summer are two that I never really expected to say together again. Summer holidays are typically hard work when you have a severely autistic child. Routine is out the window, anxieties increase, everywhere is crowded and meltdowns are common.

But this year Archie found the sea and surfing. He's been on the beach pretty much every day, and surfing every week. As a result he's been relaxed and chilled and happy. And I've been surfing quite a bit so have been relaxed and chilled and happy. It's been a truly fantastic summer.

The photo above is a still taken from a video shot last week. I haven't really worked out yet how to produce high resolution stills (maybe it can't be done), but the original video can be seen at vimeo; severe autism, severe love of surfing [] As always, we're incredibly grateful to the surfers who make this possible.
