A BEAUTIFUL LIFE FORM

This picture was taken in a small village in Rajasthan, India. A place where the inhabitants are lively and very welcoming. However, they are deprived of modern world advancements; they are secluded from education. They don’t know anything about the modern politics or any theories of science, as such. Indeed, this is disturbing, as we are living in the technological era of advancements; people of this era are indulged in gizmos and gadgetries; they're all connected to each other through social medias.

However, In the midst of this, Maano (the girl in the picture) managed to get some elementary education in an unorganized government school, as she has the zeal to gain knowledge. She is curious about everything; she wants to perpetuate her education, but she can’t as her parents are coercing her to do household chores, and they are even deciding about her marriage after two years. Moreover, they don’t have money for her education. This is shame in the world where women rule and have a right to make choices.

After some time when I finished taking photographs of her & her family, she, with all her courage, came up to me and asked,”can you lend me some books, if you have” and “can you help me get some decent education, I don’t want to get married so soon.” Upon hearing her words, I gladly said yes. I bought her some books to study from a city near, and helped her with the words and sentences; I told her new things, and as she was willing to give something to me in return, she told me this excerpt from her memoir, and how she loves learning about new things.

I was really happy helping out someone; it was perhaps the best feeling after so many days.

Sad but unfortunately true in yet so many places in this world of ours. I've been in Rajasthan and all that poverty hurt. Love the overexposed treatment of the portrait of this girl. Hope she can be more than her parents want for her.
