The Door at Friendship Bridge

I am sitting here incognito watching people photograph my door. It is a plain white door trimed with plain white trim. People are stopping to stare at my door. Some girl ran over and even opened it. Runners stop running to look and have a laugh. Kids ask their parents, “Is that a door?” and then look confused when they have to answer yes.

This is just an ordinary everyday door. It is the same one you and I go in and out of everyday. The one that welcomes you home and closes behind you when you leave. The only thing that has got people talking about my door is the fact that it is in the middle of the Boise River.

This door is magical. Take it anywhere and walk thru it and you are magically whisked away to a new place full of adventure, friends and ideas.

This door is a passage between who you are right now and the person you can be by just walking thru the door.

There is a transformation from your old fears and insecurities that hide on one side of that door to the freedom of being your true self once you open the door and decide to go thru it.

Very cool concept. It sounds like your Grandma is a very wise woman. Thank you for sharing.

"Grandma says it is a powerful image and a bold statement. She says it took courage and boldness to put it in a public place. She says the white door gave it quiet strength. She also read your description and had an interesting question, if it’s the door to your dreams, why did you make it is hard to get to it? She wonders if you think it takes that much courage to reach your dreams. She says you should open the door and walk through it. Your feet will dry."

It's rare to find a photo or a set that combines exquisite beauty and whimsy. It's especially rare to find work that combines these two so beautifully! I'm blown away by the beauty of this place.....and sitting here chuckling at the idea of your door sitting there! Thanks!
