A New Chapter

Week 1

After a long break from photography, I’m back with a new mindset and objective. I have been fascinated with product photography lately and decided to give it a go. I enjoyed it very much and wanted to go deeper into it. I made a makeshift soft box and used my desk lamps as flood lights. After shooting quite a few jewellery pieces, I wanted to try editing them.

A basic Adobe Photoshop Express tutorial later, I started editing my product shots and saw a huge difference. Above is one of my shots, before and after editing.

For my first time trying product photography, what do you think?

I agree with Benny, as far as the edited version being too bright. What I do like about it is  the brilliance of the jewels. I am wondering if using the gradient tool on the bottom half of the photo, so that only the straw mat is slightly darkened, would make it stand out.

I had thought of that too but didn’t seem to find a option for it.

Nice photos, but I think the edited version is a bit too bright to my taste, especially the background.
