Tanzania, walking around Lushoto and Mtae, small villages not to far away from Mt Kilamanjaro we came across the witch doctor. His wife declined to be photographed, but he wanted to put on all his finery when one of our party requested a photo.
He put on his headband with dangling white beads first, which meant he couldn't then see so well to put on his colombus monkey & feather armbands, his kalabash collection (the pots) and red and white scarf.
Actually the people of the village refer to him as the medicine man, and all he needs is hair, a piece of clothing or finernail to help. Help can come in the form of trying to make you rich, apparently he gets such requests, or to undo the effect of suicide, we couldn't quite understand the explanation of how this occurs.
It's a scanned photo, taken on a very ordinary point and click type camera.
