For a town that used to earn it's living as a seaside resort, most of Southend is quite ugly. Yesterday it got a little uglier. There used to be a large clump of trees in the middle of one of the town's largest roundabouts. Yesterday all were chopped down leaving just one left.
Town planners claim it's for the best, but I'm not conviced. Time will tell.

Stumped (this is nearby, but not on the roundabout).

Tie A Yellow Ribbon!

Stop! It the last tree left on the roundabout.

Look at the bright side, now the trees have gone we get a great view of those ugly flats…

… and the lorries…

… and of the backside of Oscar Deutsch's house.
Those broken white signs in the middle are from when local businesses used to sponsor the planting of flowers on the roundabout.

That's a sad report but TFS
