39. Drifting Apart From Old Friends

by Jarvo J February. 08, 2010 5894 views

Following Stéfan's lead [photoblog.com], I pruned my friends list today cutting it down from 85 to 55. I've no problem with any of the 30, it's just that for one reason or another we seemed to drift apart. Some were long standing friends (which I count as anything over 6 months in Photoblog terms), some were quite new. But in all cases reciprocal visits had stopped - if they ever got off the ground in the first place. I have to say I found it almost as cathartic as my decision two years back to stop sending Christmas cards - miserable old bugger aren't I ;-)

To the 55 that remain, I'd just like top say thanks for being around. For me, finding friends on here is one of the greatest thing about PB. I don't think I'd have finished my project 365 without you, let alone be a month into my second one.

I don't know why, but I really wanted to put some music to this post. I don't usually because I fear I'd get carried away and the music would take over. Today though, it just seemed right - perhaps because ther are so many appropriate tunes. I started out thinking I'd go for The Photo's Loss Of Contact, then it was nearly The Dandy Warhol's We Used To Be Friends, then BeBop Deluxe's Ships In The Night. Finally though, I settled on this for pure comedy value [youtube.com].

Thanks for the photo and the bizarre youtube clip. I hope we don't start a trend that leads to no one "speaking" to each other here anymore.

Very original shot, Jon ...
... and a super_cool song.

Thanks for sharing your action (Fortunately you did not threw me out)
and thanks for sharing the song, I love it.

(Sometimes I want to shorten my list too, but than I think, maybe something is happening so they are not able to come at photo blog. Or, I hear nothing from them in months and the day I delete them, they ask almost immediately to return the friendship again) ... pfff

I would've picked "You've Got A Friend In Me" from the Pixar movie Toy Story, but then I'm not as clever (or strange) as you. Thanks for the post and the laugh, my friend.
