240. Beyond Belief

I do not normally consider myself to be easily shocked, but there have been three news stories in the past couple of weeks which have genuinely staggered me. In each one people have followed their beliefs and/or colluded with others to commit some atrocious acts. They do not make pretty reading:

Story No.1 - A man in Tanzania was jailed for the abduction of an albino man. [english.aljazeera.net] He had planned to use his body parts for witchcraft. In the past three years at least 53 albino people have been killed in Tanzania so that their body parts can be sold to witchdoctors.

Story No.2 - A suicide bomber in Baghdad killed about 50 people and injured 100 more by detonating a bomb. [economist.com] The victims were looking for work.

Story No.3 - A report has been published stating that a Catholic Priest paid a major part in a bombing campaign in Northern Island in the 1970s. [irishtimes.com] The Church and the British Government colluded to get the priest transferred to The Irish Republic to avoid a messy investigation.

Well, you certainly came up with a great photo to illustrate this theme! When I read about such things I always wonder exactly what road a person has traveled in this life to get to that point.

well, I'm with you, rarely something shock me, But sometimes I prefer not to hear the news, and keep ignorant about what is really happening in the world. because there are too many stupid people with too many stupid reasons to make too many stupid mistakes! lol
(i repeated too and stupid too much)
by the way, the recent new that had happened in Singapore, about the guy thief the bus and killed some chinese tourists, because he wanted his replace on the army...please? was he thinking? doing that would never make him going again to the army.
As you can see, there are stupid people, and there will always be, we just need to be aware and keep away from them :/

Indeed this is terrible stuff. The more sad part is there are major headlines like these going on all the time that mass media chooses of which to show us - at least is the case here in the states...
