Thanks very much to Ricky who came to my rescue and identified this little beast. It is the fly eriothrix rufomaculata, one of the Tachnids [].

it is a tachinidae fly jon ;) go look after the specie..and it is a parasite! I hate when they are on my caterpillars! grr!
