Feeding Frenzy

by Jarvo J May. 14, 2013 12088 views

The shiny black blob in the middle of this picture is an ant that ended up in the honey. I don't know if it got there by its own recklessness or if the wind caught it. The other ants gathered around it and ate the honey off. Sadly, by the time they'd done this it was dead. Several times I'd seen ants wade in and get stuck and the others seemed to help them out. On this occasion though either the honey or the attention from all the others proved to be too much. Verdict: misadventure.
