One Beach, Two Seas, Fifty-One Kite Surfers

Prasonisi beach, Rhodes. The only time in my life that I have stood on a beach with two different seas. There are some similar places like La Manga in Spain and Hewinarra in St Lucia but these have roads and buildings in the middle; Prasonisi is just beach.

One thing that did strike me was that whilst the Aegean side was spotlessly clean, the Mediterranean side was spoiled with litter that has been washed up. An important lesson to everyone: No matter how far away from land you are, your litter always gets washed up somewhere. Just because it isn't a problem for you, it doesn't mean that it's not a problem for other people/habitats.

On the left (east) The Aegean. On the right (west) The Mediterranean.

He can always say that he's run all the way from one sea to another!

The windsurfers (and us paddlers) seem to prefer the Aegean side which is warmer smoother and cleaner.

The kite surfers seemed to prefer the Med. Which is a bit rougher, but also colder and dirtier.

I have know idea what the real threat of this plan is other than what it says on the sign.

The eastern seaboard along the islands facing Turkey (i.e. the Aegean) is always warmer during the summer, as I recall. Thanks for the reminder about litter and I want to know how (unless it's obvious) you know about 52.
