Spiritual Dryness

This is the Colca River that runs through the valley of Colca. It is the prettiest river when it is full but right now we are just starting the rainy season so it's very dry. At it's deepest it can be is 10-15 feet (3-4 meters) and at it's coldest it can be below zero degrees. When the river is full all of the white rock you see is completely covered. In our church, we perform our water baptisms there and it’s a true test of who is really ready to live a life for Jesus Christ. Trust me the river is cold, I have been in the water at its coldest and my legs went numb after only being in there for five minutes. Other than the freezing water it is so beautiful to sit by the shore and listen to creation's voice. It's a peaceful place to sit and have time with God and put your thoughts in order with God when you have had a rough day. One day while I was sitting at the Colca River I saw this view and God asked me if I was spiritually dry just like the river. I sat there and thought about the scripture in Jeremiah 17:8. Jeremiah 17:8 says "They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out it's roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." When I think of that scripture I think of someone who has been walking with Lord for a long time. No matter what trials and tribulations they stand strong, and they don't waver in what God has told them. That's the type of warrior I want to be in the Lord. Right now I feel like I am like this river in my walk with Jesus. I am continually learning from my parents and pastors to be spiritually strong. With the living water of Jesus (John 4:10) I can be renewed each day. They have taught me so much and I am always being guided by them to do the right thing. I know with God's strength I can be a tree planted by the living water and that I can grow into a mighty woman of God but I need the help of God and those around me. How are you spiritually? Are you spiritually dry? Do you need the living water in your life? Are you spiritually strong or do you need God's help? I know I need help to become strong in the Lord and a mighty woman of God. Because I don’t want to remain spiritually dry like this river!

Yours truly, Jewels

When we feel we are strong spiritually and don't need God's help, we will get into trouble. The lesson of humility and continual dependence on God even when we feel we are strong is a hard one.
