I want to start this blog off with a story from a Navajo Indian tribe. A Navajo Indian tradition says that your conscience is like a small triangle in your heart. When you know something is wrong, it turns and it pricks the flesh of your heart with one of its corners. But when you harden your heart and ignore your conscience, it keeps turning, wearing down its corners in the effort to get your attention. Eventually, the triangle gets so worn down that it becomes smooth and circular, spinning around and around in your heart but to no use. You can't feel it anymore. Now they use the word "conscience" but I want to replace it with "Holy Spirt". The Holy Spirit is like that triangle, pricking your heart when you are doing something wrong or if you are in a situation that you know is bad. Have you ever ignored that small voice telling you shouldn’t be doing something but you do it anyway? I know I have done that many times, and to say the least it has always ended badly. The Holy Spirit is in your heart to guide you and to teach you what is right and what is wrong. Isaiah 30:21 says, "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” No matter where you go the Holy Spirit is there to guide you and to let you know when something is wrong but it’s your choice to listen to that warning. Have you let your heart become so hard that you can't even feel the guidance of the Holy Spirit anymore? Have you become so closed off to his counsel? The Holy Spirit will always speak the truth to you about any situation so if you feel the Holy Spirit speaking to you about the situation you are in, you need to listen. Even if you are the oddball out for not doing what everyone else is doing, that’s okay because you are doing the right thing by listening to what the Holy Spirit is speaking. John 16:13 says, "But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come." So I encourage you to listen to that small voice that speaks to you no matter what situation you are in, whether it's good or bad. Remember the Holy Spirit is there to guide you and protect you not to harm you. He will speak the truth and he will save you from something bad.
Yours truly, Jewels
