Ilot des canards (Duck island)

We arrived, at Noumea, after almost a day of flying from France with a stop in Japan. Of course with the time diffrence (something like 10 hours ahead) you're upside down and the best thing to do is NOT going to sleep to make sure you put yourself in the normal time quick. So a friend suggested us to go to a small island in front of Nouméa: L'ile des canards. Did not see any duck there but statues and the only restaurant of the place. All you have to do is lay down, dive into the sea and eat…
I was exhausted, the sun was really hard, but as I had my cam, I shot around the best I could….
The restaurant was very interesting because it would represent the traditional shanty of Kanak culture. Of course it's kind of touristic but it would have preserved some of the symbols.

The restaurant, its architecture is based on the traditional shanty's

The post sculptures represent the different clans in the chefferie

The arrow ridge tile, powerful symbol of the clan

A nice painted wood wall

Lost of wood sculptures all around

Same statue, two different angles

Every dead wood-block is modeled

In front of the island: the town, Noumea

The taxi from and to the island

Thanks for the quick trip to Noumea....a place I'm sure I'll never see except through your eyes and your camera. I love that painted fence!

It does look hot ! Fabulous sculptures and painting on the
wall, the arrow is also interesting. I am glad you took your
      camera with you.
I wouldn't mind a couple of statues like the #5, but I imagine
      they are big !
      Great set, thank you jen
