Lanterns

On Buddha's birthday, the temples around Korea are decorated with hundreds and hundreds of lanterns. In Korea the holiday date differs each year as it based on the lunar calendar but it is generally around May. It is a huge celebration lasting a week or so involving lantern ceremonies, also the temples offer visitors free food.
These lanterns were strung up from the street entrance to the temple itself forming a kind of paper roof. It was beautiful to see and amazing to walk under.
What also surprised me was how bright everything was. It was like an explosion of colour; very cheerful, bright and welcoming.
