Halong Bay Cave

by Jennifer Patience May. 04, 2008 2007 views

There are many caves and grottos in Halong Bay but as most of them are underwater unless you dive you won't see them.
There is though one quite spectacular above-water cave that is included on any trip to Halong Bay, Thien Cung Grotto.

The formations inside are stunning, enormous and look a little creepy. They would be beautiful by themselves, and are not helped by constant garish flourescent lighting.

Facts: less than 5% of known caves are watered-out! Most are inundated. Geologists think that deep down inside the Earth's Crust there are Gigantic Caves with giant crystal formations, including some that may even hold giant diamonds unlike any that have ever managed to surface! Some Geogolists even think that there is a several miles deep layer of almost pure Carbon Crystal: Diamond!
