The debate over whether to have the inaugural hike of a new women's ministry, Sole Sisters, was up and down for days. We were beat down by overcast skies and the fitful heavy rain that defied radars and plans. We wondered whether to cancel, make other plans or simply go. Hiking is healthy, and probably moreso when we are willing to do it whether there is weather or not. The refreshing trek up Sawnee Mountain was not gloomy or difficult; the drizzle was refreshing and we saw the mountain illuminated in a new way.
Our hike was more than five miles round trip. We were near the Indian Seats at the top of Sawnee, a sacred site for the local Native American and Creek tribes. It is known for breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
In this shot I focused on mountainside as the sky was nothing but pregnant rain cloud; a day beautiful in its own way.
