This is my first photo of the year, specifically taken for New Year's. I wanted it to represent the start of 2017 in a more abstract way, rather than literal. First and most obvious, the clock represents time. If you look closely, you can see that the hands point to 12:00 (the second hand doesn't move). The piano itself, which was just an object lying around the house, can have its meaning interpreted in many different ways. In my opinion, the piano, as well as other instruments, represents a fresh start. Every time you sit down to play, you have a new opportunity, a chance to try again. As human beings, we crave success, and often, the only way to get there is to start over, and to keep trying. The globe in the background was accidental, but I decided it added to the looks and meaning of the photograph. As an international holiday, New Year's represents the desire for happiness in every individual, and a chance to move on from the past. In the photo, the globe creates a sense of unity in the world, and the piano represents the harmony and desire for inner peace in individuals.
"Photography is an art of observation. It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them."
