This young eagle was ever so patient as I sat crouched down behind the grasses... given its keen eyesight I was well aware that it could easily see my 150-450mm lens pointed at it...
And it knew that I knew it could see me...
I took several photos - a few shown below - but of all the profile and face-on shots I think my favorite shot is maybe the one of it where the grasses gave just a little bit of foreground haze revealing/recognizing the fact that I and the eagle were not exactly spending the day together...
The eagle was enjoying its day...
I was enjoying my day...
But we were most definitely not enjoy our day together...
I was photographing it...
It was tolerating me...
Eventually the eagle decided the grasses were insufficient in regards to making this point...
So the eagle stated its position with its trademark chirp - the last photo in the series below...
Movies always replace that trademark chirp with the screech of something like a red tailed hawk - or some other 'appropriately chill inspiring call'...
We've been trained by Hollywood to consider the chirp of a bald eagle weak and uninspiring... out of place coming from such a majestic bird...
But consider it the other way round...
The keen senses... The raw power...
This is a bird that has no need of bluster... has nothing to prove...
- Intelligent & Keen of Sight
- Near Silent flight
- Graceful in its Aerial Dexterity
- Powerful Talon & Beak ready to strike
The gun announces itself boldly - hit or miss irrelevant...
The bow and arrow speak softly - the only sound that of their victim...
The sword silent - ready to strike repeatedly with consistent force...

#2Absolutly Stunning, great shots especially this one
Thank you - the 'model' was very tolerant... though requested compensation be converted from cash to fresh fish...
