Trial Shots...

So my Essence of a Book project is officially underway...

I did some test shots today to make sure I could capture various aspects of the paper, ink, and illustrations... so, as you'll see, these are not final images but they give a general idea of what I'll be trying to capture... I now know what I'll need to properly support the books and the lighting in position to truly begin...

My collection ranges from the very late 1600s to today... One of my absolute favorites is my 1704 Fables of Aesop and other Eminent Mythologists... and then there are any and all of my Arthur Rackham illustrated... but we'll get to those - in time...

the first book(s) I'll tackle sits, by date published, in about the middle of my collection - another of my favorites but specifically the first for this project because, aside from being an AMAZING story (well, technically a LOT of stories in one story) it has SOOOO much character...

Not an expensive binding of leather and hand bound like many of the older more unique works in my collection... but still a favorite...

Okay... FINE! They are pretty much ALL my favorites.

My 1901 Herat Edition, number 369 of 500...

1901 - what an amazing time period in the history of books and printing... so many topics to cover...
okay - getting too excited... gotta' finish this blog first - calm down - focus - you can do it... ... ... ...
okay - I'm back... where were we? Oh yea... the title...
