Ohrid is a picturesque town on serene Lake Ohrid, located in the southwestern part of North Macedonia, about 170 km from Skoplje, the capital of Macedonia. Ohrid once had 365 churches, one for each day of the year, and has been referred to as a "Jerusalem of the Balkans". Ohrid and Lake Ohrid were accepted as Cultural and Natural World Heritage Site.
Saint John at Kaneo is a beautiful, tiny, Orthodox church situated on the cliff over Kaneo Beach. The church was named after the old fishing village Kaneo. It is a medieval structure, constructed in the 13th century, made out of bricks and stone, in the shape of a cross, and consists of Byzantine and Armenian elements.
