Every year I volunteer my time and services to shoot a local musical event. These shots are from last year– This years event is coming up in a couple of weeks and I've been asked to come back. I can't wait!
I love these kids. They can all wail on the sax, guitar, and drums!

Guitar Player. Nikon D300, Nikon 18-200VR, 1/40th second, F5.6 @ 29mm, ISO 1600
I processed the poop out of this image to get these effects.

Waiting to play. Nikon D300, Nikon 18-200VR @ 200mm, 1/15th sec, F5.6, ISO 1600

Killer Sax. Nikon D300, Nikon 18-200VR, 1/40th sec, F4.5, ISO 900 @ 36mm

Sax and keyboard. Nikon D300, Nikon 18-200VR @ 200mm, 1/15th sec, F9.0, ISO 1600

I wanted the 1930's, Old Blues Band look to this young mans image. This is the shot I planned for BEFORE pressing the shutter. In other words I KNEW what I wantd the final product to look like. His buddies were jeering, and goofing off just behind me getting him to break up laughing. I waited until a serious moment before pressing the shutter a number of times in order to nail a good shot due to the low shutter speeds and no flash.
