Inspired by Jessica Kobeissi's ongoing YouTube series, I set out to try my hand at the "4 Photographers Shoot the Same Model" challenge. I reached out to some of my friends and was very pleased to get such enthusiastic responses. Myself plus three other photographers, all with different styles, backgrounds, and levels of experience, were all able to find time to come together to make this happen. Seriously, do you know how hard it is to get 4 photographers, one makeup artist, and one model together at the same time? It's hard.
Myself, a digital photographer with almost 10 years of experience who (at this point) primarily shoots nudes.
David Difuntorum, my longtime friend and mentor with decades of experience who specializes in lifestyle and wedding photography.
Heather Boswick, a wedding photographer with a few years of experience.
Hayden Trace, who specializes in birth photography and is new to the world of professional photography.
All are talented but had widely different styles, experiences, and skill levels. I couldn't ask for a better group.
1: Each photographer picks one location and is responsible for styling and dressing the model for that location.
2: Every photographer gets three minutes to shoot in each location. The photographer who picked the spot goes first.
For each setup the location, model, outfit, and styling are the same. The idea is to see just how different the photos will be based solely on the photographer.
Huge thank you goes to Mae Claire who not only volunteered her time for a group of people she didn't know, but also brought multiple outfits so she could change 4 different times, modeled for a combined total of 16 different mini shoots shot over the course of 5 hours all in 90+ degree heat and killer humidity, and did it all with a smile. Honestly, she was amazing.
I'd also like to thank Madison Spera for the makeup. Finding one look that worked with 4 different styles could not have been easy but she nailed it.
1: Take a look at the photos and let us know which one is your favorite from each set. Bonus, try and guess who took which photo.
2: Visit each of my friends' pages and show them some support.
That's it. Now, onto the photos!
Location 1: David's Location
Location 2: Heather's Location
Location 3: Joey's Location
Location 4: Hayden's Location
So how did we do? Which photos are your favorites? Should we do it again? (We're thinking of doing one each season). We'd love your feedback so please don't be shy and leave us a comment!
