Capitol Reef

Capitol Reef National Park in Utah is one of those places that continues to grow in the mind long after you leave. For one thing, those intense colours stay with you. I liked this shot so much it's actually my home page cover. Wish I had a better camera at the time but it will do.

It was very hot and very dry, but well worth the effort to get out of the car and take photos.

Loved that late afternoon light and those bluer than blue skies.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's an Australian thing - we probably relate quite well to those colours, the isolation and intense late summer climate (even if we spell colour differently. I wish that spell checker would stop trying to correct me.)

Capitol Reef - to be honest I'd never heard of it before we went to the USA, but really glad we made the extra effort to visit.
