Sa Pa is a mountain town in the north west of Vietnam, much loved for its spectacular scenery and hill tribe people in colourful traditional costumes. Being slightly contrarian, I'm starting my Vietnam series with construction shots, as this is also the reality of Sa Pa today. Here in mountain mist.

Sa Pa is absolutely overrun by construction. It's an increasingly popular tourist destination and one wonders how they will sustain the frantic level of development in such a small area without killing the goose that laid the golden egg. Still, I found a certain eerie attraction on the misty night.

Another view.

This is a fairly nondescript street just off the main area but I found the mist and light very appealing. And no new construction! A relief.

Similarly with this one, a nondescript area in another construction zone but something appealed about the light.

Back on the main drag people (mainly women) set up for the regular night market. Sa Pa is a magical place and don't get me wrong, I loved every minute there. I promise I will post some more flattering shots of the scenery soon. Still working through my shots as we're just back from our quick visit.
