Our road trip in Greece in October was a fantastic experience with the southern Peloponnese one of many highlights.

Incredible colours of Cape Tenaro.

The lighthouse at Cape Tenaro (one of several spellings btw) marks the southernmost point of mainland Greece.

This ancient Roman mosaic, just lying out in the open amongst ruins at the start of a walking track, particularly caught my eye.

The colours in the southern Peloponnese are striking.

Are you getting the sense there aren't many people? You're right. The Mani Peninsula in the south is home to rugged scenery and beautiful, near deserted bays.

The Mani is dotted all over with these ruins of towers.

I don't usually crop to 16:9 but I felt it suited this snap of Vathia, a peculiar, eerie, half deserted town in the Mani that has a reputation for being the most photographed in the area.

Just had to pull the car over on a headland to try to capture this light.

Beautiful old buildings in tiny villages seem to appear around every bend in the south.
No need to say that this landscape is naturally breathtaking. Beautiful photos!
Thanks so much Heike! Yes, really interesting part of Greece.
