Bushfire sunset, Wallis Lake

My home state of New South Wales is suffering from drought and fire. Smoke haze is now constant and the setting sun each day is a red ball.

Here at Wallis Lake, on the mid north coast of New South Wales, even though the fires are not particularly close there is plenty of smoke haze. The smoke at the moment is much worse in other places, including Sydney.

It makes for pretty sunsets but the situation across the state is serious. It's been going a very long time and is getting worse. Everything is just so dry.

We're accustomed to droughts in Australia but this is a bad one. It sometimes feels like it will never rain again. But it will. Won't it?
