Road trip part 1 - SW Rocks to Wollomombi

An early spring break exploring some old favourite spots and a couple of new ones in northern NSW.

Kempsey Road into the mountain country inland from the mid north coast of New South Wales. The summer fires took an extreme toll on millions of hectares of bush but it is slowly coming back.

First stop was in the South West Rocks area of the New South Wales coast. Lots of wide open beaches and coastal walks in the Arakoon National Park. Here looking back towards Hat Head.

I find it a near-futile exercise photographing whales - they always seem to surface and breach at the precise moment you put your camera down. Anyway, for the record, there were some humpbacks not far off shore.

We checked out the falls at Wollomombi. Not much water in the falls but I did like the viewing platform!
