Day 145: Klosterneuburg Outing

Wine Vines of Niederösterreich

We took a group excursion for our end of the (Macalester) semester celebration.

We went to Klosterneuburg, where there is was a monastery (and the largest wine-barrel in all of Austria). There were plenty of beautiful stained glass windows (which still allow white light to pass through). But it was also more Baroque. My eyes are tired of the curly-cue and shell shapes and coral-colored marble.

We also went to Burg Kreuzenstein, which is a privately owned castle, where there are supposedly a lot of films made.

Then at the end of the day, we ended up at a winery in Traunfeld, north of Vienna. The wine farmer had many words of wisdom for us. My favorite was his advice on the weather. Weather is just weather; it's not attacking us. It's not good or bad. It's a fact, and we are the ones who deem it good or bad.-Man speaks the truth.

And the wine was delicious.
