Day 165: Up On the Rooftop

When life gave us lemons, umbrellas, and empty bottles, we took some pictures.

I'm quite happy with them. The lighting was great, and we had some fun. There are some fantastic ones, but I didn't take all of them.

This is one that I did personally take.

These were inspired by some pictures that I saw in the magazine Wien Live. I said to myself, “we could do those.”

They are not only aesthetically pleasing, but as the consummate rural boy, I'm always interested in what it means to live in an urban space. A lot of the pictures create a fantastic contrast with the city-scape of Wien. Den Stephansdom, den Donauturm, die Mexikokirche, und das Riesenrad sind in vielen Fotos zu erkennen.

We did get a couple gawkers from the street and from windows as we took photos. One concerned neighbor of ours watched from her window with her hand over her mouth, because I was standing on the chimney. I like to think that I trust my sense of balance, but I was standing on the chimney on a breezy day. I admit it, questionable choice. But it was worth it.

It was tough to pick just one picture from this lot. Here we've got some serious faces, the cranes in the background, and that light. Matthias Rau would have gone crazy for that light.
