A Day In The Life

Once again, I can't get the full-res version out here, but whatever.

I have been experimenting with colorizing B&W prints. Obviously, I'm not concerned with coloring in-the-lines, because this is artificial, and I'm not trying to pretend that it is not.

I'm doing this in DxO/NIK Silver Efex, which may seem counter-intuitive. That module has the option for adding color-tone to the "silver" (black parts) and/or "paper" (white parts) which you can mix-and-match and balance. The trick is that you can only get one color at a time, so these are built up layer-after-layer.

All images shot and scanned personally.

Where was this? Reminds me of my freshman year in college, except no one took pictures - the Arkansas State Police didn't like that.

Hi. This was Penn State University at State College. I was an 18-year-old freshman at the time playing with being a
photojournalist. I shot 4 or 5 rolls of Plus-X that day. I also made a point of shooting the plain-clothes guys lurking in the bushes with dark-glasses, trench-coats and walkie-talkies, who couldn't have been more conspicuous if they had had a neon sign around their neck.

Good on ya - I had to remind my 17 year old grandniece that things were pretty rough when I was her age and we managed to get through it. She asked if this is what it looked like for my freshman year - I hated to tell her that we didn't have this many students on the entire campus of Hendrix College in 1972. Thanks for the memories!
