Day 239: Riding the Trails

by John Nelson August. 27, 2010 2859 views

My oldest daughter has recently learned to ride her bike, completely unassisted. Physically, at least. I still remind her to stay on her side of the path and when to stop before intersections/roads.

I've had a vision of a shot like these for a while. These are kind of close, but not quite what I see in my head. My shot is closer in, with more depth of field. But Emma had just hurt herself and was only semi-interested in posing for my shot. I still like these, but I know my “shot” is still waiting out there for me.

As an aside, if you shoot Canon DSLR and don't have the 50mm f/1.8 (or f/1.4), you're missing out! It's a cheap lens (the f/1.8, at least), and it's super fast and renders colors & light extremely well. It's my favorite lens, over 2 L-series lenses I own. Go get one! You'll thank me later.

Great shots, but how's the girl? She can't get hurt before next weekend....
