Day 341: Building Narnia

by John Nelson December. 07, 2010 4145 views

My youngest, Brooklyn, loves playing with her building blocks. She's 4, but still hasn't outgrown the simple joy of creating with simple, wooden blocks. Especially when she's building with Mommy or Daddy. It's my go-to activity when I can't muster the energy to play Barbies with her.

Her favorite outfit to wear right now is her older sister's Halloween costume: Susan from Narnia's robe. The other day, she asked what I waned to build. Since she was wearing her Narnia dress, I recommended that we build Cair Paravel (the castle from The Lion, the Witch, & the Wardrobe). We had a blast building it, and just as much fun knocking it down.

Our version of Cair Parevel (the best I could do with the block selection).

Precious! And what a great story to for a child to get wrapped up in - literature that builds character! And playing with building blocks and you, she's both building skills and intelligence for her future use, and a strong sense of self because her daddy enjoys her company. Bless you!

Blocks were always your thing, too, John - that's why your castle is so good! And the photos are precious of precious B, who makes a great Narnia princess!
