Day 350: Buck & Doe

My boss always tells me of the wildlife he spots on his drive into work, which is near our office. Eagles, deer, hawks, and falcons are recurring sightings. When I take his route to the office, I see absolutely nothing.

I got a phone call from him yesterday, telling me to grab my camera and meet him downstairs. He picked me up while I got my gear ready. We drove up on an 8 point buck by a small creek, then spotted a group of 8 doe feeding & frolicking in the adjoining field.

The does fled, so I continued shooting while he drove along and chased them. It was nauseating, but worth it! When people post pictures of deer, I think “Nice. Another deer shot.” I now know why people like them so much…they're kind of hard to shoot (photograph)! Fast little suckers.

As I stated yesterday, I'm done with my creepy, morose, UrbEx shots. And I'm not giving you warm, fuzzy wildlife shots to balance out the offerings.

One doe lingered to check us out while the others began fleeing. I love those ears, and the white tails in the background.

Enlarge to see his full majesty. This 8-point buck blends in nicely.

These are scuh pretty shots of them, John! I love the details in the first one; the natural setting of the buck in the second; and the entire "look" of the third one. I've tried a hundred times to "shoot" the ones by our house, but the minute the door opens, they're outta there!
