While my wife was on a girl trip with my sister, I took the kids to my parents' house for a night. Dad [photoblog.com]and I took the girls down to the White River [en.wikipedia.org] near Buffalo City to “explore” and take pictures.
On the way to the river, we saw some horses near a fence, so we stopped to say hello. They were skittish at first, but soon warmed up to us. I'm sure the handfuls of long grass helped.
The White River is extremely cold and crystal clear. The cold water didn't phase Brooklyn (4 1/2) at all. She waded around and picked up shells on the riverbed with her sister for close to an hour!

Why the long face?

This horse was in heaven while my oldest patted his nose.

The sparkly dance shoes of Princess Brooklyn were cast aside while she waded around the icy river searching for shells.

I found something!

Emma's collection of shells. Actually, the pile was originally much larger, but I put a limit on how many shells I was willing to haul back home. :)
Precious, precious, precious! Sorry I missed the fun! Your photos are super special, John. #4 looks like the painting at the condo of the little blond child "Wading".
