A friend of mine and I were driving back from Kansas yesterday amid some really nasty storms. In fact, a couple of hours before, a tornado hit Joplin, MO and destroyed 30% of the town & killed upwards of 90+ people. We had to bypass the town, as they shut the highway down through Joplin.

We were basically following the storm's path, with major storms developing behind us and to our sides. Thankfully, we didn't experience any significant weather. However, while waiting out the storm for a bit, I got out and shot the ever-present lightning storm. This is the best I got, with a bunch of tendrils exploding out of a storm cloud.

A 2-second exposure of lightning tendrils above Northwest Arkansas. The trail of lights at the bottom are cars driving along the highway.

Glad you didn't get in the middle of this one - one of the worst tornados in US history! This shot is excellent and the cloud is eerie!

Glorious result if you don't think about the horrific results of the weather you've been having recently
