Bagshot Row and Bag End

by Julia Laporte October. 18, 2018 1374 views

In December 2001 I saw Sir Peter Jackson’s The Fellowship of the Ring at the cinema. Arriving at home, I almost immediately started reading my mother’s old and battered copy of the respective book - an edition published sometime in the 60s.

That is when the hobbits entered and enriched my life so to speak. As a result, you can imagine what a highlight it has been for me to visit the movie set of Bagshot Row and Bag End near Mata Mata. Despite the masses of tourists, it was wonderful to be engrossed in that world and to see it with my own eyes.

LOVE it! The movies really did do the books justice, which is a rare thing. Thanks for sharing your pics. Looks like an incredible day for a LOTR fan!

I have to be transparent and confess that there was some photo editing involved as I wanted to do LOTR its due justice. smile  However, it truly was lush and green and wonderful!
As a LOTR fan I am looking forward to going back to Mt Sunday on the South Island as that is where Edoras was set and filmed. I went there several times in 2006/2007 and hope to share photos here later on for some 2018 renditions.
