Vientiane

Arriving in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, was a quiet affair. There was a lack of honking and hardly any “city-noise” in town, which was a welcome change after the hustle and bustle and commotion of Hanoi.

Friends of ours from Switzerland joined us for this section of our world trip, which we had been looking forward to. Reunited, we explored local sights and markets.

What a lovely place it is! Though I have never been there or even close, I could feel the calmness of the city from your pictures. It must be the wonderful year-end you had there with your love. smile

I generally don’t plan on what I’ll be taking pictures of and on some occasions, when enjoying the local streets and markets, photography takes a back seat and I let the impressions sink in. As we have another 2 weeks to go in Laos I am sure there will be some shots of the local culture and rural life in Laos. ;-)
