New Waters

From the very first moment, Colombo and Sri Lanka felt so incredibly different from India and all our respective experiences there. It is hard to define all the ways in which they are different but to start with it is cleaner and much more orderly, which starts with the traffic. It had been months since we had seen actual sidewalks, traffic lights that are being followed or tactile paving for the visually impaired (particularly impressive, we thought). It was also a welcome change to hear noticeably less honking. Although the heat had turned up a notch we enjoyed exploring Colombo at a leisurely pace. The more we saw the more we liked.

The below pictures are just a few random shots taken in the city.
