Visiting the Reindeer Farm

I drove with Alayna's preschool to their fieldtrip to visit the Reindeer Farm today. This is one of my favorite trips that her school does and I think I've only missed it once. Today, unfortunately, was freezing and raining! Yuck. Good for us we were in barns most of the time, but wow, it was pretty cold. Good weather for reindeer - not so much for moms. :) We had a nice time in spite of the cold, learned a lot about reindeer and visited the alpacas and the miniture horses as well. Every year, there is always one child that asks the infamous question …. “Do reindeer really fly?” And, the owner always answers honestly, “Well, we've never seen one fly, but I imagine it takes Santa's magic on Christmas Eve to make them fly, and we're always in bed.” Pretty cute answer and satisfactory to a 4 year old. :)

Tips for today:
#147 Some time during the holidays, go through your clostes and box up clothing you haven't worn in two years. Give away items that are still in good condition.

#71 Remind newlyweds to save an item from their wedding ceremony to use as a treasured Christmas ornament.

#152 When you're with a child and see a blinking red light in the sky, ask her, “Do you think that could be Rudolph?”

This reindeer's name was Holly. We also met Snowflake, Cupid and Trudy. Trudy is the daughter of a reindeer named Rudy that the farm had for years and was like a pet, but had died in recent years.

Mrs. Kuhn leans in for a kiss from Angel the Alpaca.

Elderly lady: Oh, Marko, Marko! I haven't seen you in such a long time! Was it 1972 in Rome? Silly me! I can't remember for sure. Here; land me one your famous Italian kisses! Ugh! Marko; you're breath! What have you been eating? Garlic Soup?

Llama: Just a little bit closer and I will be able to sink my teeth into that delicious purple hat of hers! I wish I understood their language. These humans seem totally bonkers!
