Vacation 101 Gratitude #19

Scott and I got the kids a trip to Disney for Christmas this past year. We wrapped up some trading pins and a letter explaining that we would be taking a family vacation to Walt Disney World in May. It seemed so far off at the time … and truthfully, it was. But, the days have passed quickly and today is our big day.

The kids knew we were going to Disney, however, they did not know that we were flying. We let them believe that we were driving. Imagine their surprise when Scott said, “You know, I don't feel like driving anymore. Let's grab a plane.” and then pulled off into the airport. Garrett was beyond excited. Carter was very apprehensive and Jackson and Alayna didn't really believe him. It was a difficult secret to keep from them, but their surprise and expressions were totally worth it.

After our arrival, we checked out our hotel and hung by the pool for awhile waiting for our room to get ready. We made it to our first park by 4:00 …. hit some rides and met a lot of characters.

Gratitude #19: Without a doubt I'm grateful to be able to give our children the experience of a trip of this magnitude and to be able to take this time as a family to spend together and build some great memories.

At the airport, waiting for our plane to arrive. We got them up at 3:00am and then drove 2 hours to the Indianapolis Airport.

On our way …… Garrett just loved being on the window seat. He stared out at the countryside and then above the clouds the entire flight.

The other three …. we sat across the aile from one another.

We're here!!

Our hotel … We stayed at the All Star Sports and stayed in the Basketball section.

Garrett in front of the gigantic football helmet at the football section. They were awed by the huge sports memorbilia.

Carter ran the length of the football field.

Alayna and I at the top of the Baseball section.

The view of the baseball section and pool ……. note the beautiful blue skies …….. if we only knew they wouldn't last.

One of our favorite treats …. Mouse ears rice krispy treats.

While Garrett, Jackson and Scott went to ride Test Track, Carter, Alayna and I went to meet Mickey and the Gang. When Scott and the other boys came back they were able to convince Carter that he would love the ride. He takes awhile to warm up to new rides ….. he and I went together and we loved it!
