Boiled Peanuts

This is a southern delicacy. :)
This is an acquired taste. :)
People usually LOVE or HATE them.
Me ~ I LOVE them.

Take one bag of green or salted peanuts
Place them in a big pan
Cover them with water
Add 1/4 cup salt (can add more if you like salt)
Boil them for about 6 hours (they are like beans)
Eat them HOT!!! by sucking the juice, cracking the shell, and then eating the meat (peanut).
Divide what is left into freezer bags
Freeze for later
Heat and Enjoy.
These make a great snack. (at least for me)

There are some restaurants that offer them. I know here in Missouri the one place is called Bandanas.

Oh, yes! I love these! My mom used to make these for snack a lot. Definitely better than dried peanuts!

I knew when you posted these for the hunt, you would have folks wanting the recipe! I don't like them boiled, but you have to pull me away from the roasted ones! Great photo, Karman!

Yessiree, this is very typical at home in southeastern Virginia. We boil the skins off them and throw them wet into the oil and it makes a wonderful crunchy blistering effect and taste. We make soup and pies with it as well as butter of course, and this is the stuff that makes me homesick!! Thanks for posting this.

I would like to try them myself, but raw peanuts are not sold here. Thanks for sharing your recipe and links!
