Inverno is a time where locals can catch their breath from the busy buzzing season that was L'estate (Summer). Inverno is a time when the tourists flee and the locals mix and mingle. It's also the time when the baby tuna are biting and the fisherman are eager to haul some fish in in preparation for Christmas lunch. Winter on the Amalfi coast sets a completely different tone and atmosphere in towns that are continuously publicised in magazines, calendars and posters as being the exquisite Italian coast of Summer. When in fact the Amalfi coast is beautiful all year round.
Inverno is a quieter season in contrast to the Summer. The Sita buses don't follow any schedule at all, the days are shorter and colder and little children are wrapped up with so much padding they look like little teddy bears. Winter time on the Amalfi Coast, seems like a non existent season to tourists, but is one of my favourite seasons to capture with my photography. The lighting, colour and texture is so vibrant and provides a holistic overview of the beautiful season that is Inverno, the winter .
