Back onto night shift this week which usually means I don't get out much at all. So thought I'd take my small point & shot to work with me and share my night shift with you. Guessing (hoping) most people don't know what goes on in an Emergency Department. Todays photos are not great quality, got to get the settings right on the camera. And this is more just about sharing my night with you. And I've got 6 more nights to practice. Hope you enjoy the nights….

**yes I did get permission from the boss to do this, all OK but of course there won't be pictures of patients**

Oh o, busy start to the night. Not the way we like to start it thanks.

Partners in crime. 2 of my workmates loving the camera.

all ready and waiting……

all's quiet at the moment, witching hours just finished.

A ride in the lift to transfer patient upstairs to the ward

A needle for some unlucky punter.

Antibiotics for that same unlucky punter.

Equipment at the ready.

Compulsory night shift snacks. Can't make it through the night without them.

Yes, we get plenty of constipated customers!

I really enjoyed this set, Kaz.
I can only really react emotionally to this set - having spent a good 8 hours in emergency in November, before being hospitalised for 5 days, I really now have so much more of an understanding and appreciation for what goes on behind the scenes. It's one thing to see it, it's another thing to be one of those patients needing morphine and drips and so on... I admired so much the nurturing and caring skills of the nurse who looked after me, as much as I did her nursing skills. It must be hard to treat people as individuals when you see so many through in a busy night...
