Weekly Theme #14

by Leslie D November. 13, 2016 923 views

Here we go again....another week has passed us by. And what a week it's been ~ that's all I'm going to say about that.

This week's theme is Minimalism. Click THIS LINK to read more about it. Want to see what others have entered? CLICK HERE to see!

Since we are expecting a super moon on Monday 11/14, it seemed appropriate to share this light painting. My assistant had as much fun with this as I. He painted 'backwards', even though I assured him I could invert the photo post processing!

A local skydiving group meets at an unused airport. It's not something I would enjoy doing!

This was the largest Canadian Goose I've ever seen!

Abandoned buildings are fascinating. Imagining the days when they were occupied, and wondering who worked there, or what they did intrigues me to no end.

Ah thank you, Jay. Light painting is a technique best accomplished in the dark of night. A dark room will do, but I did this outside. A tripod is a must....and a source of light. In this case, a flashlight. I set my camera up on my tripod, and since I don't have a remote trigger, (although I do now....on my phone! A really cool app!) I set my camera on a 10 second delay - ISO 100 - f-5 - 30 second exposure. Travis held a flashlight up to his face, so I could make a focal point. Then, he shut the flashlight off, and I pushed the shutter release. 10 seconds later, he started "painting" with the flashlight. It took a few attempts to get the timing right, and we actually started counting to 30. That's about it... Any questions?

Geez, Leslie!! Nothing like going down to the wire in your three peat attempt. Nice shots, especially the para-glider. Good luck.

Ha, Joe! I have been very busy at work...budget deadlines & contract renewals & public hearings....blah, blah, blah. Now, I am behind on my regular work. This coming week will be busy, since I intend to take vacation time over Thanksgiving.
Thanks!
