NASM - Enterprise (The Space Shuttle)

by Kevin Marshall April. 04, 2009 6839 views

A long time since I've seen this bird - last time was June 1983 (and that's many moons ago) when she stopped off at Stansted Airport on the way home from the Paris Airshow

The Shuttle Enterprise was the prototype of the series of space shuttles (Columbia, Challenger, Atlantis, Discovery and Endeavour). Fitted without some core systems (like engines or a functional heat shield), she was not destined to touch the stars unlike her sisters.

Today the Enterprise resides in pride of place of the Space hanger of the NASM: UH Centre []

And thats it from the NASM at IAD. Back to some British subjects for the next few months :)
