What season is this

I rarely get fog where I live but when I do there are a few spots on my shot list that I'm still trying to get to when I wake up to a blanket of fog covering everything. This is one of those spots. It's a pretty ordinary field with trees during the day, but add fog backlit by a morning sunrise and you get a nicely layered scene with depth and intrigue. Or at least that's what I tell myself.

And I did a black and white version just to see if I liked that direction. Nope, I think color still works better here, but I'm certainly welcoming of opinions.

I’m a monochrome fan. I love the second image. Very nice.

Wow Heidi, you have some really amazing black and white photos. You've definitely made it an art form.

#1to me is a cold/cool scene . It shows an image in late fall to very early spring. I like it . #2 to me shows a foggy start to the day the lack of leaves tells me the same thing that it is late fall to very early spring but somehow the bit of blue tones in the color that are missing in the black and white are important at least to me. I do rather like the black and white on its own but beside the color it is missing something .

I prefer #1. For some reason the photo looks more balanced in colour.
