Real Cuba

The cars, the clubs, the beaches, the rum. Those are the story lines you hear about Cuba. Not interested I say. Show me where people live and how they really go about their lives. To their credit the Cubans very much go about their lives as if the tourists are not there. They seem quite happy and confident in their way of life.

Lovely set! #1 and #5 are beautiful, but there is something about #2 that I keep coming back to. Great capture!

I like #2 too, not because it's a great image but I saw a story there when I took it. It's like a teenager driving up to his girlfriend's house in his new car and she comes out to talk and look ogle at his car. That's what I saw happening there when I took the photo. Well, maybe this is the equivalent for that in Cuba anyway.

Thanks Russell. I actually haven't printed any of these. I don't think they would sell too well, but I probably could add one or two to the rotating collection that hangs in my office.

Love these pictures, and that's the way I love to travel. I will always try to go to places people don't usually go.

This one is about a 30 minute walk outside of Pinar del Rio. I had been looking for a scene like this for the previous two weeks of my trip and found this one on the last day before I went home. I never know where I'll find these shots, but we never find them without going where people don't usually go as you say.
